What is the advantage of two-phase orthodontic treatment? At Peterson Orthodontics, the main purpose of two-phase treatment is to give you the very best outcome possible. The preferred treatment in our office is one phase comprehensive treatment. However, in some cases this will compromise the results or even complicate the process. In such cases, phase one is used to create the optimal scenario for phase two, to give you the best results we can.
What if I put off treatment? In certain cases, waiting for treatment until all the permanent teeth are fully erupted will limit the options and outcome of treatment. By addressing certain factors early, such as severe crowding, we can create space to allow the teeth to erupt into a more ideal position. For some individuals this also means avoiding surgical procedures. If treatment is delayed too long, we lose the advantage of using growth to get the best results. Crossbites relating to narrow jaws can only be treated up to early adolescence before surgical intervention becomes more of a necessity.
